George of The Statesman in New Delhi, India, pianist Jason Cutmore has performed solo recitals and collaborative concerts throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Mr. Cutmore has won critical praise for his "brilliant technical finesse" and "deep emotional penetration" (Offenbach-Post, Germany), and for the "charismatic generosity of communication in his music." (The Telegraph, Calcutta, India).
In February of 2005, Mr. Cutmore made his Chicago recital debut in the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series with an all-Liszt programme, which was broadcast live on WFMT radio, and shown on Chicago Cable TV 25. In 2007, he returned to the Chicago Cultural Center to present a recital of French and Spanish music. Elsewhere in North America Mr. Cutmore has concertized in Calgary, Edmonton, Chicago, Cleveland, New York City, Oberlin, Princeton, Rochester, and in Purchase, NY where he was honored to inaugurate the Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra's "Tuning Up" series.
With an ardent interest in foreign travel, Jason Cutmore's musical activities have frequently taken him abroad to Germany, Lithuania, India, and most recently, Hungary, where he performed recitals at the Franz Liszt Museum in Budapest, and in Bartok Hall in Szombathely. During two concert tours in Lithuania, Mr. Cutmore collaborated with pianist Guoda Gedvilaite in concerts of duo and solo piano music in Palanga, Klaipeda, Siaulai, Telsiai and Druskinikai and at the Thomas Mann Haus Museum in Nida. He has twice traveled to India, where he performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Bombay, the India International Centre in New Delhi, the Alliance Francaise in Bangalore, and elsewhere throughout the subcontinent. On tour, Mr. Cutmore enjoys giving master classes, as well as lectures, which provides him with the opportunity to share his love of Spanish music with audiences around the world.
Mr. Cutmore has recorded Manuel de Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, and collaborated with Robert Shannon and Haewon Song on recording the music of George Crumb for Bridge Records. Currently he is awaiting the release of his first solo commercial recording, a CD of Manuel de Falla's piano music.
In 2007, Mr. Cutmore, with the collaboration of concert organist Daniel Sullivan, formed the New York Piano-Organ Duo, dedicated to exploring and performing the wide-ranging concert repertoire for this unique instrumental combination. Their upcoming concerts, which will include works for piano/organ duo by Franck, Langlais, McCune and others, will take them to venues in Canada and the United States in the 2007-08 season.
Originally from Edmonton, Canada, where he was a student of pianist and conductor Michael Massey, Mr. Cutmore later moved to New York City to continue his studies with Eleanor Hancock. Mr. Cutmore received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he was a student of Robert Shannon. Currently he is working with Stephanie Brown at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music in New York towards a Master of Music degree.
