Tin Pan Alley Alive

Continued . . .

As a film writer/director/producer David Giardina’s last feature “Taffy Was Born” won several festival awards including Best Director, Audience Choice for Best Feature (NY International Independent Film/Video Festival) and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival Marche du Filme. The film has since been picked up for commercial distribution. His current book on health and wellness “A BANANA IN MY POCKET (but I’m still happy to see you)” is now available at www.lulu.com

The release of “Alive in Tin Pan Alley!” falls on a rather timely (or perhaps UNtimely) note as the area once known as “Tin Pan Alley” - inspiration and home to David Giardina - is under threat of annihilation by corporate interests who want to level the two block stretch on 28th St. and put high rise apartment buildings. This is an urgent shame as the music created in Tin Pan Alley is perhaps America’s greatest gift to the world. Indeed it proves to be timeless as newer generations continue to discover and embrace these songs’ wonderful melodies and clever lyrics. It is Mr. Giardina’s hope that the cd can help to heighten awareness of the importance of saving this historic area from destruction and oblivion – if only one building which may be transformed into a museum chronicling the life and times of these true American Artists and their work.

David has been performing around the country with the celebrated concert pianist Paul Bisaccia. Their show “Tin Pan Alley Alive” is a banquet of beloved American songs from roughly 1910 – 1940. It has received standing ovations literally everywhere it is presented.
