Two young Spanish keyboard artists formed Duo MusArt Barcelona in 2007 to fill a vacant niche on the Iberian musical landscape: the combination of piano and organ in full-scale concert performance. The husband and wife team of Maria Teresa Sierra, a noted concert pianist who trained at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spain’s sensational concert organist who studied in France and Germany, bring to the stage Spanish and Russian flair in blazing, edge-of-the-seat virtuosity coupled with the precision, sensitivity, and clarity of a premier chamber ensemble. As Le Monde (Spain) described: “They play as with one mind.”

From the Critics

“Spectacular concert by exceptional artists.”
(Perm News, Russia, October 2010)

“They are both lovers of the keyboards. They love the stage and the music, and they have the gift of excellent musical interpretation.”
(El Periodico Press, Spain, February 2009)

“Many Americans associate the combination of piano and organ with less than tasteful arrangements of revivalist hymns in evangelical churches. This unfortunate stereotype was obliterated by the engaging program performed by Maria Teresa Sierra, piano, and Raul Prieto Ramirez, organ. Duo MusArt Barcelona displayed a fine sense of cantabile playing as solo lines passed between piano and organ. The duo closed their concert with Ramirez’s arrangement of Witold Lutoslawski’s Variations on a Theme of Paganini, which they played to perfection, holding the audience spellbound in the mystical passages and exploding into a finale of musical fireworks.”
(Kimberly Marshall and David Yearsley, The American Organist, September 2016)

From the Presenters

“I listened to it and it’s really fantastic! You both play very musically and with incredible virtuosity. Your arrangement of the Lutoslawski piece is amazing! Thank you again for including my Duet Suite in your CD. I am very proud to have my music so well played by wonderful musicians like you!”
(Denis Bédard, regarding a performance of his “Duet Suite for piano and organ”, March 2011)

“It was one of the finest performances of this work I have ever heard. I enjoyed it very much, especially the second movement which is very difficult to play on the piano and in combination. You both play in a very secure way, but also with a beautiful musicality.”
(Marie-Louise Langlais, regarding a performance of Jean Langlais’ work “Diptyque pour piano et orgue”, January 2011)

A very special duo where virtuosity and elegance meet.”
(Barcelona Music Auditorium, Spain, October 2010)

“Both artists proved themselves to be musicians blessed with a high level of virtuosity, as well as intelligence and deep interpretative insight….both had an extraordinary capacity to establish musical rapport with each other and the audience.”
(Francesc Taverna-Bech, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Barcelona, May 2009)
