Matthew T. Kneefe, Tenor, is in his seventh season with Chanson. A native of Anoka, MN, Matthew holds a B.A. in English Literature and Advertising from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. While at Concordia he was a member of the Concordia Men's Choir, Intact, The Postmasters, and the Concordia Choir with which he often was a featured soloist.Currently Matthew is a member of the Twin Cities based gospel group From the Heart, In Nomine Patrisî and as a featured soloist with the Two Rivers Chorale. He resides in Anoka with his two daughters, Maddison, and Mackenzie.
J. Aaron McDermid, Tenor, is in his seventh season with Chanson. A native of Saint Cloud, MN, Aaron holds a B.M. in Music Education from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, a M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and is currently pursing his D.M.A. in Choral Conducting at the University of Arizona. For five years Aaron was the director of choral activities at Northfield High School in Northfield, MN. He has sung with the National Lutheran Choir, The Concordia Choir, and has been part of the Oregon Bach Festival. Several Minnesota choral groups have performed Aaron's compositions and arrangements, including ìCome Sing to me of Heavenî published by Mark Foster Music. In 1999, ACDA of Minnesota named Aaron the Outstanding Young Conductor of the Year, and in 2001 he was the winner of the Dale Warland Singers' Choral Ventures program. Aaron currently resides in Tucson, AZ with his wife Sarah and his daughter Samara.
Micah Lamb, Tenor, is in his sixth season with Chanson. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Micah studied music at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and graduated with a B.M. in Vocal Performance. Micah was a soloist and singer with the Concordia Choir for three years, and for two years he served as tenor section leader. Micah completed his M.M. in Vocal Performance at McGill University in Montreal in May of 2002. He is now free to enjoy more time with his fiancée Alex, and singing professionally in Montreal.
Aaron M. Zinter, Baritone, is in his seventh season with Chanson. He is originally from Fairmont, Minnesota and did his undergraduate work at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he earned a B.A. in Music Education. While at Concordia, Aaron was a member of the Concordia Choir where he served as tenor section leader. He received a M.M. in Choral Conducting from Illinois State University in 2001. Aaron is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, Illinois. He is a commissioned and published composer and arranger, and is published by Abington Press. His most recent work, "God of All Nations", was written as a prayer for peace in response to September 11th.
Peter A. Lovett, Baritone, is in his seventh year with Chanson and is the group's founder. Originally from Louisville, KY, Peter holds a B.M. in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he was a four-year member of the Concordia Choir. He has sung with the Dale Warland Singers, Choral Arts Society, The Postmasters, The Concordia Men's Choir, The Louisville Times, The Thoroughbred Chorus, The University of Louisville Collegiate Chorale, and the Cardinal Singers.Ý Peter is currently living in Louisville, KY where he is pursuing a M.A. in Humanities, with a focus on Music History and Religious Studies, and a M.M. in Choral Conducting at the University of Louisville.
Brett McDermid, Bass, is in his seventh season with Chanson. Most of his formative and angst-ridden years were spent in St. Cloud, MN. Brett attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he received his B.A. in Theatre Arts. While at Concordia, Brett was a three-year member and soloist with the Concordia Choir, the Concordia Men's Choir, and The Postmasters. He was involved in several theatre productions, including Equus and Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, and was a member of the comedy improvisation troupe, The Slushpuppies. Currently Brett resides in Los Angeles where he is pursuing his love of music, art, theater, and writing. He is working on getting his new play published and pursuing his MFA. Recently Brett was featured in the independent film "The Janitors Code" and is working freelance in the Los Angeles area.
